Finally- some photos.
So- I haven’t been keeping up with the photo aspect of this blog lately- sorry. I’m able to do some writing at work occasionally- so I can think out posts that consist of words- not so much with the photos. I’m also way behind on my photography e-mail, so if you are waiting on a reply from me, expect one this weekend if all goes as planned! With vacation, a new work schedule and it being summer, I’ve been swept up in a crazy whirlwind of activity and business!
Here’s a few photos from my vacation to Massachussets…

The beach. I fell in love with the New England beaches. The West Coast was beautiful- but there was something about the East Coast that captured my heart.

All of us at the beach in Maine

…yes. I’m wearing a scarf at the beach. And, no, I didn’t get a sunburn on this vacation! Thankyouverymuch. Just label me eccentric- you know you already have been.
Road Trip 2010.
First wedding of 2010 is tomorrow. First road trip of 2010 starts this afternoon. Excited. I’m happy to shoot again, winter blahs have set in and I need to be creative again.

California: Abridged….
My camera did break…but not completely. I was able to get some shots. Check out my flickr set here if you want to see the whole kit and caboodle.
Here’s a few highlights…

This guy is sort of our adopted brother…whether he wants to be or not (he does) He played tour guide to us, taught Val how to surf, and was generally a super friend to get to hang out with (as always)

The weather was sort of amazing on the way from San Diego to Albuquerque…rain, storms, rainbows….

California Pt. 1 (The Epic Journey Cross-Country)
It all started at 4:40 a.m. on the morning of Friday the 14th. I was sleeping, and in my dream, I was listening to a Coldplay song. Then I woke up and realized my alarm was going off playing “Shiver” (by Coldplay). Stumbling out of bed, I ran through a list of items NOT TO FORGET and proceeded to get dressed, load my gear in my car (which, I hadn’t done prior to this, seeing as I had only packed the night before, and had spent most of the evening at my parents celebrating my brothers birthday and playing with the new puppy.)
Anyways, long and short of it was, we were on the road by about 5:15 a.m., and I took the first shift. First day, we made it to Arkansas safely, where we spent the night with our friends Josh and Sabrina, and got to hang out with our friend Nathan.
First day, not so bad. It included Dinosuar World, so, I mean, obviously good, right?

Day one, done.
California: Pt II (The Epic Journey Continues, but a bit of the epicness has worn off)
So, day two.
Day one wasn’t so bad, so day two seemed like it’d be tolerably so as well. We made it to Oklahoma fairly quickly, just as the sun was starting to rise in the sky….

(us in all of our early morning, travel hair glory.)

Hours later, we stopped at a touristy place along the road that boasted “moccasains, boots, jewelry” ect… Some good southwest stuff. And, I’ve been on the search for a good pair of leather moccasains for a while now, so we stopped. ( I didn’t get any) We parked, and, being from Ohio, and, being good at playing the tourists, my sisters shrieked “There’s buffalo over there!” So, um, of course we went over to the fenced in area where the had the buffalo.

I took this and a couple other shots, and then….the unthinkable happened.
MY CAMERA CRAPPED OUT ON ME!!! “ERR 99″ it said, and wouldn’t let me photograph ANYTHING!!!! Seriously? I cross the the country for the first time in my life, and my Canon 40D, which I have had for barely a YEAR decideds NOW is a good time to take a trip to a repair facility!? Seriously?
I’m pretty sure its something to do with the shutter….I finally realized it lets me use the LCD screen to take photos (live view) but NOTHING through the viewfinder. Too bad you have to focus MANUALLY with the LCD screen! What the crap is even the point? It’s not like you can see it clear enough to know. I never use “live view” because of that reason. But, but, I will be grateful I can even snap photos. Even if ALL of them have an overexposed white strip at the bottom of them. Expect creative crops in almost all of the photos to follow. And pray for my camera. Not even joking.
We made it to Albuquerque that night, and spent the evening/night with Neil and Kristi (we even got to see Judah for a few minutes before he had to go to bed.) So good to see them.
And that was the end of day 2. It shall hereto be known as:
The Day My Camera Died.
